Dear Shaheen Users,
This is a reminder about the upcoming scheduled maintenance for the Shaheen system. We are planning to take the system down at 8am on October 13th. We are planning to restore the service on 21st of October at the latest. Please stay tuned for latest email updates and check the message of the day on Shaheen.
This extended maintenance is part of a major system upgrade, including updates to the programming environment, workload scheduler, firmware, and the management subsystem. Due to the scale of this upgrade, many HPC applications will require extensive testing, and we anticipate that the outage may extend through to October 21st.
Recompile your applications!
The operating system update (October 2024) that will be applied to Shaheen, will include changes to the modules and most recent versions of compilers and libraries. After the system is upgraded, we recommend recompiling all your applications. All default libraries and software listed by the module avail command are compiled and linked with the latest CPE 24.07.
More details are available here: https://docs.hpc.kaust.edu.sa/soft_env/prog_env/modulesystem/shaheen3/2024-10-prgenv-modules.html
Please note that while access to the login nodes will be available most of the time during this period, the compute nodes will not be available for running jobs.
Additionally, the scratch filesystem will be unavailable for the first three days of the maintenance period.
We encourage you to plan accordingly and reach out to us at help@hpc.kaust.edu.sa if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
